Caring for African hair is on a whole different level. I have known this fact since I was born (ha! Maybe I exaggerated that part, but we all know how painful and hard it can be).
African hair refers to the hair types and textures that are commonly found among individuals of African descent. It is often described as being naturally curly, kinky, coily, or zig-zag in texture, and can range from fine to coarse. Due to its unique structure, African hair can be more prone to dryness, breakage, and shrinkage, which can make it more challenging to manage than other hair types. African hair isn’t easy to handle, but getting the right methods/routines to take care of your hair is surely something very worth. And it can also be healthy, vibrant, and beautiful..
African hair isn’t a joke to handle, and that’s why 98% of the time, when we see an article or just anything talking about hair management, we jump on it. It’s understandable. As a child, I dealt with severe hair tangles, breakages, dryness and every other hard thing that comes with a natural, African hair. It wasn’t an easy journey.
My grandmother had to barb my hair 3 to 4 times at different points but I didn’t like it. I mean my hair is my pride! But that pain anytime I wanted to get a new hair style done was unbearable. I couldn’t even let my hair loose for too long. I wanted to let my hair fall freely like I see in movies, but that was just a wish I had…
Until, well until we discovered the benefits of some essential oils on African hair and scalp, which has helped me and a lot of people in different hair levels. I want to share some tips and secrets that took me from that painful phase to a beautiful, bouncing African hair. I also want to share those benefits for free in this article for people who are yet to overcome that pain that comes with an African hair and also people with whatever kind of hair texture and how to overcome it.
Maybe the pains, (headache and chest pains. Yes! It was that severe for me) I got anytime I combed my hair influenced my becoming a hairstylist at some point and then becoming a hair consultant.

How to Choose the Right Essential Oil For Your Natural Hair Type
Essential oils are becoming increasingly popular for their natural and therapeutic benefits. But when it comes to choosing the right essential oil for your hair type, there are a few things to consider. Whether you have curly, straight, or wavy hair, the type of essential oil you choose should be based on your unique needs and goals. Here are some steps you can follow to make the best choice:
1.Determine your hair type: Knowing your hair type (whether it’s curly, kinky, coily, etc.) is crucial for selecting the right essential oil. Each hair type has specific needs, and using the wrong oil could lead to unwanted results.
2.Identify your hair concerns: Determine what specific issues you want to address with the essential oil. For example, if your hair is dry, you may want an oil that is moisturizing and nourishing. If your hair is prone to breakage, you may want an oil that helps strengthen the hair shaft.
3.Research different essential oils: There are many different essential oils to choose from, each with its own unique properties. See a list of some popular essential oils and their uses Here.
4.Always consider the concentration of the essential oil: Essential oils are highly concentrated and should be used sparsely. If you’re new to using essential oils, it’s best to start with a lower concentration and gradually increase as needed.
5.Consult with a professional: If you’re not sure which essential oil is best for your hair type, consider consulting with a hair care professional or an aromatherapist. They can help you select the right oil based on your specific needs and provide guidance on how to use it properly. Talk with a hair care professional for free here today.
